CLARE
for
JUSTICE
Your representative on the CPSU SPSF Group Victorian Branch Council
Hi! I’m Clare, Senior Clinician in Forensic Intervention Services, and I’ve recently been elected to the Branch Council the Community and Public Sector Union, representing the Justice electorate.
To me, running for Justice in this election is not just about representing our Justice cohort on Branch Council; it’s about fighting for justice for workers, justice for a public service under attack, and justice for those targeted by racism, sexism, homophobia, and the far right.
As a clinician I work alongside a wide range of Justice workers, and see how overworked, underpaid and underappreciated we all are. I want to use my socialist activist background to help build a stronger union where we dictate our terms to the bosses. I want to represent our experiences and work with members, Branch Council and CPSU’s new leadership to build rank-and-file organisation and activism. We do this through things like establishing regular members’ meetings, organising local campaigns in members’ interests, and rallying to demand improved pay and conditions for us and the industry as a whole. I think we can do more to drive and inspire workers and members to get involved and feel connected to our union.
Getting elected to Branch Council is just the start; make sure you sign up to stay in touch and get involved in union activism.
When we fight, we win.
